Frequently asked questions...
What are the first year costs and when do I have to pay?
The cost each year is currently £2700 if paid in full. I offer an option of instalments, that works out dearer - £500 deposit and 12 monthly payments of £200. These fees may be subject to an increase, but I have yet to cost up for 2011/2012. The second year fee will be the same as the first (£500 non returnable deposit payable in November 2011, then the balance paid according to the agreement). In the second year, the revision weekend will consist of a residential weekend hopefully in Cropthorne in Worcestershire. We did this last time and it was a huge success. All accommodation costs for this will be inclusive of your course fees.
What does the £500 deposit and the course fee cover?
The cost is made up from a few fixed items; Amatsu Therapy Association Membership, Complementary Therapist Association Membership, First Year Student Insurance, a selection of recommended text books, a CD that contains all of the year's course material (an invaluable resource), exam fees and all food/drink and tuition fees. I pride myself on teaching everyone to the best of my ability, and to the best of the students' ability. I will mentor you throughout and will keep tabs on you in between the sessions so you are always supported in your learning. I'll do my best to teach to your learning style, and I have an excellent track record with exam results. Last batch of students achieved 9 distinctions (>85%) and 2 Merits (75-84%). The previous batch achieved 9 distinctions, 1 merit and 1 pass (65-74%).
Can you give me the dates of the 2011 course?
I have yet to decide the actual dates - I don't have the calendar yet! But I think it will follow a similar pattern to the 2010 dates on the website - four 4 day blocks and three 2 day blocks.
What is the average study time needed for homework practical and written?
Most people underestimate this. I recommend that you spend at least 5-7 hours a week on your Amatsu studies. There is written homework to complete each month, and every 2 months you need to submit 9 case studies (3 people, 3 times each). Each practical case study takes about an hour and a half to do and a similar time to write up.
How can I find out more about Amatsu training?
You are warmly welcome to attend half a day at one of the 2010 courses so you can meet the staff, chat to the current students, and see the teaching and learning styles in action. Check the dates on the website, and let me know which one you'd like to attend. I can always put you in touch with some students via email so you can ask them questions about what it takes to be an Amatsu Student.
What teaching qualifications does Jane Langston have?
I have been trained to teach Amatsu by Dennis Bartram, the Principal Trainer of Amatsu. I have additionally taken the PTLLS course which allows me to be a Licensed Associate Teacher in the Lifelong Learning Sector. I will be embarking on the CTLLS course next year.
How many students in the class?
There will be a maximum of 12 students. I have another 2 spaces per day for qualified practitioners for Continuing Professional Development bringing the maximum number in the room to 14.
Which assistants do you have helping you?
I have a Teaching Assistant (Dawn Stump) who is apprenticed to me. She is undertaking the Amatsu Therapy Association Teacher Training programme. I also have Noura Abi-Chahine, a fellow practitioner videoing the class. I issue DVDs of the key moments of the class for you to keep. This is useful for visual and auditory learners and makes an excellent revision tools. I may also be assisted by Sarah Hayward and Taz Faruqi. These two are also teachers and may help out now and then.
What do I do to secure a place?
You must complete the registration form on the website and return it to me with the deposit cheque, payable to Amatsu Training School Ltd. This will secure your place, and you will receive text books and a starter pack. Once I have several deposits, I will put you in touch with your fellow students, and in December 2010 we have a Meet and Greet at my house, so you can get to meet your fellow students.
Is the course affiliated to any governing body?
